Welcome to Srustidesign !

Kolam – the symbol of auspiciousness. It is our belief that the geometrical patterns and designs applied with rice flour at the entrance of the home invites goddess Lakshmi into the house and most importantly drives away all the evil spirits.

This is predominantly practiced by women and has been passed through generations. It is to bring the positive vibes into a home and displays every woman’s artistic capability.

Benefits of Kolam:
✤ Drawing a kolam is seen as a good physical and mental exercise.

✤ When one bends their body to draw the kolam, their back bone is bent in a position like in yoga. This will strengthen the back bone, giving good exercise to waist and hip.

✤ Completing a kolam increases one’s creativity and concentration. It enhances the creativity and imagination. It also helps in making ladies more capable of solving any type of problem that comes in their life by practising sikku kolam.

✤ Every kolam requires lot of focus and patience, believed to reduce stress and improve brain activity. It helps in the fitness of the backbone and strengthens the uterus and muscles for ladies.

✤ To prepare the ground for kolam, we have to sprinkle water mixed with cow dung in front of our house which helps in pure air circulation and also in killing the unwanted germs.
