About Pongal :
Pongal is a thanksgiving festival celebrated from January 14 to January 17. It is mainly celebrated to convey appreciation to the Sun God for providing the energy for agriculture. Part of the celebration is the boiling of the first rice of the season consecrated to the Sun – the Surya Narayanan.
People clean their houses and burst the old things in fire on Bogi festival which falls on the last day of Margazhi month.
On Pongal day people decorate their houses with Mango leaves and Thoran. Worship the Sun God with Sweet Pongal, Sugar cane and Ginger & Turmeric plants.

In the above rangoli, I draw a big circle which holds the Pot, Sugarcane and the lotus design. Pot can be drawn using a plate. Drew the background Yellow and orange colours first then drew sugar cane and lotus design.
